Johannes Brahms »Ein deutsches Requiem«Rundfunkchor Berlin Brahms
It's a truly distinctive staging of a great work that the Rundfunkchor Berlin conducted by Jochen Sandig performs for its audience: Brahms's "Ein deutsches Requiem". You can expect a concert of a very special kind that will delight, deeply move and also offer solace—because this evening in the Radialsystem is particularly concerned with solace.
Dalia Stasevska & Aphrodite PatoulidouDeutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin Tarrodi, Britten, Sibelius
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Finnish government declared Jean Sibelius's fiftieth birthday a national holiday. For this rather unique occasion, he composed his 5th Symphony, which managed to achieve legendary fame. Benjamin Britten's "Les Illuminations" had a similar resonance. At the beginning of this evening, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, conducted by Dalia Stasevska, will perform Andrea Tarrodi's "Birds of Paradise", an impressionistic crescendo of a colourful bird world—with a pinch of humour.
Vladimir Jurowski & Ardetti QuartettRundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin Feldman, Bruckner
Bruckner's 7th Symphony finally led the 60-year-old composer to his first resounding success, making him known even overseas. On the first half, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin conducted by Vladimir Jurowski will play "String Quartet and Orchestra" by Morton Feldman, who was one of the pioneers of graphic notation.
In the fourth and last ForumKonzert of the season, the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin will gather its audience in the Funkhaus [broadcasting studio] in Nalepastraße Berlin. In accordance with ending the season, the choir will perform with a full line-up, singing in cooperation with the great painter Maria Rud. RundfunkchorLounge »Apokalypse«Rundfunkchor Berlin
The apocalypse that "Fridays for Future", "Extinction Rebellion" and "Last Generation" conjure up differs from earlier doomsday scenarios in that it is scientifically proven. The Rundfunkchor Berlin's RundfunkchorLounge at the Heimathafen Neukölln will be dedicated to this looming topic—conducted by Gijs Leenaars and with host Boussa Thiam.
Robin Ticciati & Emanuel AxDeutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin von Martines, Mozart, Haydn
The great Piano Concerto in C major, with its enormous sound, is one of Mozart's monumental works. Together with pianist Emanuel Ax, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin will perform this splendid work, framing it on this evening in the Philharmonie Berlin by the Sinfonia in C major by Marianna von Martines and Haydn's Symphony No. 104.
Da Capo – Hans-Christoph Rademann: Traum vom ewigen FriedenRIAS Kammerchor Hartmann, Schütz
The dream of peace is forcefully present in Karl Amadeus Hartmann's "Friede Anno 48", a composition that he wrested from the desperation of the years after 1933. By contrast, the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin will perform Heinrich Schütz's "Musikalische Exequien" [Funeral Music], which contains the longing for the peace of the soul in the kingdom of heaven.
