A declaration of love for Spain: Ravel’s "Rapsodie espagnole" opens the evening, which flows into his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra with a jazzy twist, performed by Japanese rising star Hayato Sumino. To conclude the program, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, conducted by Matthias Pintscher, performs Bernstein’s "The Age of Anxiety" – once again with Sumino at the piano – which searches for a "colossal Dad."
