Our Ravel concerts in Berlin 2025
Few strokes of fate are as cruel as that of being struck by amusia as a composer and thus losing the ability to compose. Maurice Ravel suffered such a blow after a car accident. Fortunately, by then he had already left behind a rich oeuvre, which the ROC ensembles will perform for you in incomparable concerts!

The next concerts of our ROC ensembles in Berlin
Ravel concerts by the ROC in Berlin
Ravel's music is one of timbre, sophistication, experimentation and virtuosity. As he was rather careless with conventions, he unsuccessfully applied for the Prix de Rome five times in his youth. During his last participation, however, his exclusion was so controversial that the director of the conservatory had to resign.
Ravel's life and works continued to be controversial, gradually earning him the status of an esteemed composer, which he retains to this day.
Ravel's work - class instead of quantity
Throughout his life, Ravel was a perfectionist who often spent years refining a work in order to meet his immense formal demands. Moreover, after his car accident and the onset of his neurological illness, he did not compose any more complete works. Ravel left about 90 works to posterity. However, practically his entire oeuvre, be it orchestral works - such as the Boléro, probably his most famous concerto -, his two piano concertos, his solo works and his chamber music, or even his ballet music, is still played and celebrated today. Ravel's work stands for extreme precision, incredible richness of color and incredible skill in orchestration.
Experience the astonishing virtuoso harmony of his works in the Ravel concerts of our ROC ensembles at impressive venues in Berlin!
