Beethoven’s music can generally be described as "groundbreaking." Hardly any other composer has had such a lasting impact on classical music as he has. It is with good reason that he is one of the most frequently performed composers today. In nearly every genre he tackled – symphony, piano concerto, mass, chamber music – he set new standards that remain valid to this day. The four ensembles of the ROC regularly perform his works in Berlin, most notably his symphonies, his piano concertos, the "Missa solemnis" in D major, Op. 123, and chamber music works such as the Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56.

Beethoven's 9th Symphony - classical music at its very best!

The Ninth Symphony in D minor, Op. 125, featuring the ode "Ode to Joy," is one of the most frequently performed works in music history and a staple of our Christmas and New Year’s Eve concerts. Premiered in Vienna in 1824, it requires a lineup of choir, orchestra, and four vocal soloists that remains impressive even today.

Even beyond the Ninth, Beethoven is an integral part of our program: the Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67; the Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" in E-flat major, Op. 55; and his five piano concertos are among the works that our ensembles regularly perform with internationally sought-after soloists and conductors.
