The next concerts of our ROC ensembles

Bruckner concerts of the ROC in Berlin

During his lifetime, Bruckner excelled as a virtuoso organist. He was only recognized and taken seriously as a composer later on - sometimes less so by himself than by his contemporaries. Yet his monumental symphonies in particular have left an indelible mark on music history.

Classical music as worship - Bruckner's cathedral works

Anton Bruckner was deeply religious - for him, music was a way of honoring God. But even those who don't have much faith in God can enjoy the spiritual depth and cathedral-like sound architecture that characterize Bruckner's symphonies in particular, the heart of his oeuvre, and which our orchestras and choirs perform for you in their Bruckner concerts in Berlin.

Devout, almost whispering pianissimi alternate with extreme dynamic changes and almost apocalyptic, thunderous tutti in monumental works that often last over an hour. Bruckner's musical role models are unmistakable in his compositions - Beethoven, whose symphonies inspired him, and Wagner, who had a great influence on Bruckner's harmonies and timbres.

And even if the symphony is the genre for which Bruckner earned the most fame, it is by no means the only one in which he created masterpieces. His masses, his Te Deum and his motets are also sophisticated, wonderful compositions that have delighted Bruckner lovers for more than a century.

Our top ensembles perform Bruckner's works at impressive venues in Berlin such as the Philharmonie Berlin and the Konzerthaus Berlin and allow you to share in Bruckner's musical genius!
