Gabel & Bomsori

Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin

An almost banned violin concerto – Max Bruch was annoyed that its success overshadowed his subsequent works and wanted to have it banned. Fortunately, he did not succeed: Bomsori Kim, who has already recorded the Bruch concerto for Deutsche Grammophon, performs it with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the Philharmonie Berlin. This is followed by the German premiere of Grażyna Bacewicz’s far too rarely performed Polish Rhapsody. Roussel’s "Bacchus et Ariane" then leads into a sonic frenzy full of acoustic vertigo. The evening concludes with Ravel’s "Daphnis et Chloé," an adventurous work centered on untamed nature, pirates, and nymphs.
