Mahler concerts by the ROC in Berlin

Movement, tension, tumult, daring - these are the hallmarks of Mahler's rich, albeit not very extensive oeuvre. The unusual, the peculiar, the unconditional in Mahler's music must all be revealed in performances of this music. This is a standard that our ensembles are up to. You can see this for yourself at one of the Mahler concerts in the Philharmonie Berlin, the Konzerthaus Berlin or another great location and enjoy an unforgettable evening with us!

Mahler and the monumental compositions that were to encompass the world

Gigantic scoring, intensity, sensuality and spirituality in one piece - this is embodied above all by Gustav Mahler's 10 symphonies, the tenth of which remained unfinished.
“A symphony must be like the world - it must encompass everything” is a Mahlerian idea that can be found in the exploration of ‘the great themes’ - God, the universe, death, childhood, etc. - in the huge orchestration, in the enormous works that often last over an hour, but also in the irony and intimacy of the compositions.

Perhaps the enormous scale with which the symphonies were conceived and composed finds its counterpart in the Austrian mountains, where Mahler usually spent his summer vacations and where he composed his works. In small, modest composition cottages in Steinbach, Maiernigg or Toblach, the man with the giant thoughts spent his days away from his family and everyday life, putting his gigantic ideas down on paper.
There he could “breathe music” in complete peace and quiet, as Mahler put it. And it was there, among other things, that he composed the symphonies that still shake the concert halls of Berlin and the world today and leave them breathlessly amazed.

Treat yourself to a Mahler concert in Berlin and experience how the musical spirit of Mahler's exceptional talent is once again filled with life!
