›Mozart’s Requiem – A Tapestry‹
While Mozart lay dying in 1791, the world was fighting for freedom and democracy. In "Voices of 1791," Grammy-winning conductor Jeannette Sorrell weaves together Mozart’s unfinished Requiem with works by contemporary American composers that explore themes of freedom, racism, tradition, and the culture of remembrance – marking her debut with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Rundfunkchor Berlin. Also performing at the Philharmonie: two-time Grammy winner J'Nai Bridges (mezzo-soprano), tenor Siyabonga Maqungo, bass-baritone Kevin Deas, and soprano Carine Tinney.
