Yamada & Selaocoe

Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin

"Never Give Up," Fazıl’s cello concerto, is a "cry for freedom and peace" – performed by the musical boundary-breaker and last year’s "Artist in Focus" of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, cellist Abel Selaocoe. This plea for courage is followed by Schoenberg’s "Verklärte Nacht," which transforms forgiveness into ethereal, luminous musical poetry. The concert concludes with Strauss’s tone poem "Death and Transfiguration," in which only the afterlife offers redemption – conducted by Kazuki Yamada, who takes up his post as the new principal conductor of the DSO Berlin this season.
