JAZZIK „Electrolights“
In JAZZIK, jazz meets symphonic music. The program opens with Rob Laidlow’s commissioned work "Techno Utopia" – for orchestra and newly developed, adaptive instruments, performed by Zubin Kanga. Andile Khumalo’s "The Light We Carry" is a quiet and poignant tribute to the often-overlooked voices and stories of Africa. The evening concludes with Ellington’s "Three Black Kings" – composed in 1974 for the Dance Theatre of Harlem, a tribute to Martin Luther King. At the podium at the Haus des Rundfunks is Zimbabwe-born Vimbayi Kaziboni, "of great intensity, without distance" (Neue Musikzeitung – Leipzig).
