Shostakovich’s Sixth Symphony from 1939 searches for meaning and hope – but in vain. In the end, it has no choice but to rampage about like a clown, with a desperate grimace. Samy Moussa’s work is quite different: His "Adgilis Deda" – Georgian for "hometown" – is inspired by the Caucasus Mountains and explores the concept of security. In between is Kaija Saariaho’s harp concerto "Trans" featuring Xavier de Maistre, one of the world’s leading harpists.
