Sehnsucht
RIAS Kammerchor Berlin
Just a few months after completing his “Cantata on the Transience of Earthly Things,” Ernst Krenek’s compositions were banned by the Nazis as “degenerate” – a prophetic work written in 1932, shortly before the prophecy came true. Thus, it stands not only musically but also politically as a timeless monument. The RIAS Kammerchor Berlin presents this powerful warning against dictatorial regimes in the Chamber Music Hall of the Philharmonie, together with pianist Philip Mayers and Gijs Leenaars: The principal conductor of the Rundfunkchor Berlin is known for the sensitivity with which he interprets contemporary works.
