Stéphane Denève & Nikolai Lugansky

Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin

At first, Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto did not quite manage to write itself; after a hypnotherapy, it then downright poured out: to express his gratitude, Rachmaninoff dedicated the concerto to the doctor – probably the most impressive proof possible for the rekindling of his creativity. Besides this grandiose work, you can hear Lera Auerbach's "Ikarus": the impatience of Icarus's heart fascinated the composer.
