Sakari Oramo & Anssi Karttunen
Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin
Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 is one of his most popular orchestral works – and Sibelius’s “En saga” is also among his most significant symphonic poems, performed with particular intimacy under the baton of the Finnish conductor Sakari Oramo. In between is Kaija Saariaho’s “Notes on Light”, performed by Anssi Karttunen, for whom the work was originally written – a work that has had a significant influence on orchestral music of this century.
