The Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini is probably Sergei Rachmaninoff's best-known work besides the piano concertos; the 18th variation in particular shows this exceptional composer's romanticism. Alongside this work, conductor Emmanuel Tjeknavorian with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin will perform Khachaturian's suite of music from his ballet "Gayane", a powerful work, as well as Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition".
